IP44 Bathroom Lights that Actually look Good and Don’t Break the Bank
If there’s one interior horror I can’t get over, it’s that gorgeous bathroom lights i.e. IP44 rating and above are somewhat challenging to source, especially if you’re on a budget. Having spent what feels like hundreds of hours trying to source stylish bathroom lights, I’m sharing some of my favourites, so you don’t have to lose the will to live the next time you’re working on your bathroom project.
Before I do, this is what IP Ratings mean and where or why they matter:
The IP (Ingress Protection) rating of a bulb or light fixture declares the level of protection it has against dirt and water. Any fixture that is used in a bathroom, garden, or wet environment should have an IP rating that is sufficient enough to stop the ingress of dust and water.
When purchasing a product for your bathroom, it is important to consider the four IP Rating zones which are determined depending on the location of the fitting in relation to your water sources. IP65 lighting is recommended to be installed in Zone 1, as it may be exposed to accidental sprays from the shower or bath.
However, IP44 bathroom lights are generally used in Zone 2 of the bathroom as it can withstand a short burst of water spray as opposed to IP65 products, which are protected from low-pressure water jets and dust.
If you choose the wrong fittings, you risk damaging your fixtures which could lead to you spending unnecessarily on repairs.
